Two students were given a public telling-off when police found them swimming naked in a waterway.Police encountered the two men, aged 20 and 21, in a stretch of the Grand Union Canal / River Soar, in Western Boulevard, Leicester, on Thursday.

...

"I explained to them that there were all kinds of dangers in what they'd been doing," said Sgt Barnes. "Because of the work we've done at the canal in the past, we know it can go from being 2ft deep to 9ft deep in a very short distance."The body can also go into shock if the water is cold enough, and the currents can be very strong, even if it looks calm on the surface.

...

"It was high jinks, but they were naked in public and there is an offence of outraging public decency."But my judgement was that getting a ticking off from a police officer in front of at least 20 people was punishment enough."

So "outraging public decency" gets a mention though it is rarely considered to apply to simple nudity. In fact no charges at all, not even POA, which is what probably would have been used. No report that anyone was in fact "outraged". Sensible outcome.
